For example, my clients

have read of a complaint made by a hotel resident to the effect that she was paying the sum of $2,000 per month for the accommodation she was getting. My clients took

the trouble of making inquiries into this specific case

and learned that the lady had omitted to mention that this

sum included accommodation for herself, her husband and

three children in three large well-furnished rooms with

all meals and amenities included.

" (111) Without at least two such full judicial inquiries as

suggested, your Committee (whose composition, on my clients' suggestion, does not include any hotel operators),

it is respectfully suggested, will be in no position to adopt any basic principles for final determination of each individual case on the comparatively bare informa-

tion that will be furnished along the lines suggested in

your circular letter.

(iv) Balance sheets, trading and profit and loss accounts

individual views of each particular auditor or accountant,

leading inevitably to a confusion of the issues.

Finally, it is submitted with respect, where control is

" envisaged for one only of the many legitimate businesses being

" carried on in this Colony, namely the hotel business, such

" control should only be imposed after the fullest, fairest and

" most open of public judicial inquiries, an inquiry which hotel

" operators not only do not fear but certainly seek and welcome

" with a view to correcting the many fallacies now extant con-

"cerning the hotel business, fallacies which, they respectfully
